Kim Hamblin
mixed media paper assemblage
My approach to the art of paper cutting is unique, modern and maniacal. The process is quite a process: cut, paint, glue, press, cut, paint, nail, clearcoat, frame. Nailing my images to plywood with tiny nails is quite therapeutic and one of my favorite parts. I especially like the way the nails catch the light. My subject matter varies from landscapes to anatomy. Trees, hearts and birds are common themes.
Directions: From McMinnville, head west on Hwy 18. Swoop the Loop to Sheridan/Willamina on 18B (just after the Dairy Queen). 18B becomes Main St. Continue straight through the stoplight in Sheridan. Keep going straight at Rock Creek Rd. for 1 more mile. Look for balloons and signs.
From Salem, head west on Hwy 22. As Hwy 22 curves west to join Hwy 18, turn right at the Willamina exit. This is Hwy 18B, which becomes Main St. Continue north through town for about 2 miles. The house is between Sheridan and Willamina. Look for signs and balloons!!
