Ruri
wood-fired claywork
My clay sculpture and vessels are fired in my modified anagama, FuuKooGama. I focus on yakishime and yakishime yohen. The essence of Nature greatly inspires my work. The sculptures are hand built, using coiling and pinching techniques. During the Tour, I will be sharing my process of firing FuuKooGama at the kiln site.
Directions: From McMinnville, go west on Hwy 18, take the Sheridan/Willamina Business Loop exit to the stoplight. Continue straight 1.7 miles and turn right onto Rock Creek Rd. (big green tanks). Continue 2.5 miles, watch for a concrete mailbox stand on the left for 18526. Turn left into the driveway, bear right at the forks and drive to the kiln.
