Thrown & Handbuilt Stoneware
The ceramic vessels I build have their roots in functional forms, but have evolved to be far more textural and sculptural. Most pieces require me to combine slab building and throwing techniques in each vessel. The slabs are pounded with various tools to achieve their texture. Many of the vessels are carved with intricate designs. The glazes I use are rough, dry and metallic in character. This combination imparts an old world multicultural character.
